Immediately Actionable

The premise

Your child isn't the problem.
The digital world is.

UNHOOKED takes you beyond basic screen-time rules and device boundaries, giving you the tools to confidently handle whatever comes your child’s way — now and in the future.

  • When your tween daughter can think of nothing but skincare, Sephora, and Snapchat.
  • When your son becomes obsessed with Fortnite, Robux, or his jawline.
  • When your child insists “everyone else is on Roblox.”
  • When WhatsApp groups start affecting their confidence and friendships.
  • Or when something online gives you a bad feeling, but you’re not sure if you’re overreacting.

From body image and gaming to social media, online pressure, and digital safety, you’ll learn how to understand and guide your child’s relationship with technology from ages 8 to 16.

Then we give you the KLIKD Conversation Code: a repeatable framework that helps you navigate hard digital conversations with confidence — not just once, but for every challenge, at every age.

UNHOOKED gives you one complete toolkit for raising a digitally confident child without losing your relationship along the way

Four weeks. Four critical digital challenges.
One complete picture

1

The Screen as a Dummy / Self-Soother

The Screen is dumbing your child down, acting as a pacifier and preventing them from engaging in real life.

2

The Screen as a Security Blanket

The screen as social lifeline. How belonging, identity and status all migrate onto the device – how to keep the door open to ensure they make healthier choices about where to find belonging.

3

The Screen as an Electric Blanket

The screen as thrill-seeker. When devices become the arena for risk, pornography, sexting, gaming addiction, ghosting and the content no parent wants to think about.

4

Out of the Digital Bed

Building the lost offline toolkit to bring your child back to the real world.

The programme

Four Weeks. All The Critical Topics.
One complete picture.

Every session includes new Conversation Code skills that build on the last, topic-specific scripts you can use that week, and  live drop-ins with Pam and Sarah to bring what came up at home.

Week One

Week One: The Screen as a Self-Soother and dummy

The Screen is dumbing your child down, acting as a pacifier and preventing them from engaging in real life.

  • The dopamine loop: how TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts are created to keep kids watching — and what you can do to stop the loop!
  • Gaming addiction and the brain science behind it and how you can create healthy gaming habits in your home
  • Doomscrolling and mindless engagement with SnapChat Insta and TikTok — practical tools to reset the balance
  • What self-regulation actually is and how to get your child to take it on board willingly
  • Age-appropriate screen expectations from 8 to 16
  • How to set limits without a screaming match.
  • Parental controls that actually work — and those that don't

The screen as social lifeline. How belonging, identity and status all migrate onto the device — how to keep the door open to ensure they make healthier choices about where to find belonging

  • Online forces shaping how our kids see themselves in the real world like influencer culture and tween skincare obsession
  • The manosphere in depth: what it is; identifying it early; understanding the pull; giving your son his identity back
  • How manosphere culture reshapes what your daughter believes she deserves
  • Status battles, group chat pile-ons and gaming harassment in boy world
  • Screenshot culture, social exclusion and body image attacks in girl world

Week Three

Week Three: The Screen as the Electric Blanket

  • The Slippery Slope to Sexting and how to manage it
  • Pornography in the our younger children's worlds: how this shows up in Roblox, Instagram, SnapChat — and how to talk about it from the age of 8
  • Pornography and OnlyFans in our older children's worlds: what your child is actually seeing and what it teaches them about relationships
  • Synthetic AI and DeepFake Images – how this is affecting your child's relationships every day.
  • Online grooming: the platforms, the tactics and the warning signs your child has been sextorted
  • Girl and boy bullying, ghosting, blocking as a way of creating belonging

Conversation Code Week 3: Recognition, de-escalation and how to stay in the room when it gets hard

Date: WED 17TH JUNE 19H30 sast

Week Four

Building the lost OFFLINE skillset to bring your child back to the real world

Building the lasting skill set to make it easy for your child to come back to the real world — and WANT to stay there happily!

  • Recognising and naming their own feelings — teach your child how to identify what they're feeling in the moment instead of acting out.
  • Understanding what others might be feeling — teach your child to become better at reading social cues so that they become better at considering other people's perspectives.
  • Managing impulses and reactions — learn skills to help your child be less reactive and more able to pause, think, and choose how to respond.
  • Expressing themselves clearly and respectfully — promote skills in your child that help them to tell you what they feel, need and think without shutting down or lashing out.
  • Problem-solving through emotions, not around them — help your child move from "I'm upset" to "What can I do about this?", building resilience and independence.

Conversation Code Week 4: Embedding new skill sets in the family to help real life become more attractive and to ensure connection lasts!

Date: WED 24TH JUNE 19H30 SAST
